African Bloodstone History and Benefits

African Bloodstone has a deep, rich history. Its earliest known use was in Ancient Egypt where they used it in amulets and statues. It was treasured there because they believed it had magical properties that brought strength, healing, and protection. They also believed it had the ability to make warriors invisible to their enemies. Meanwhile in the rest of Africa, Healers used it during their rituals, believing it to be a force of grounding, and that it was a protector from negative influences and energy.
Similarly, in Ancient Rome, it was believed to be protection from venomous animals and evil spirits. They believed it to have the ability to slow bleeding wounds, increase endurance, and (again) give the user the ability to become invisible. Bloodstone has been found in ruins from Ancient Egypt to Ancient Rome. It was a symbol of authority and dominion.
There is a legend that claims it is the shattered remains of the Holy Grail, while another claims it was formed from the blood of Christ that fell upon Green Jasper during the Crucifixion.
Scientists tell us that the green base is rich in Chlorite and sometimes amphibole minerals, with the red inclusions coming from iron-rich groundwater or surrounding rock which oxidizes and creates them in the stone. Hematite is usually the source. The texture comes from Cryptocrystalline whose crystals are so tiny that they cannot be seen by the human eye without magnification.
From Ancient Egypt, to today, Bloodstone is believed to be a powerful stone, and still has its uses. It is said to possess metaphysical properties to this day. It is believed to promote courage, ease stress and anxiety, increase mental clarity, and aid in the manifestation of desires. It is said to balance the mind, body, and spirit, while cleansing your aura, and dispelling negativity. It is connected to the Root Chakra, promoting security and stability.
Carry it in your pocket, place it in areas you spend the most time to infuse your surroundings with the stone’s energy. It can be used during meditation as well. Hold it in your hand, focus your breath, and visualize the stone filling you with strength, clarity, and courage.
